Simon Reevell welcomes Silver Dreams Fund

Thursday, 13 October, 2011

Simon Reevell, Member of Parliament for Dewsbury, calls on local businesses to apply for funding from the Big Lottery Fund.  The local MP hopes that businesses will meet the challenge set by the Silver Dreams Fund to come up with an innovative idea for a project that will help vulnerable older people deal more effectively with life-changing events.

Interested businesses have until midday on Friday 28th October 2011 to submit an expression of interest containing an outline of their idea to the Silver Dreams Fund.  Successful applicants will be contacted in November 2011 and invited to submit a full application.  At the final stage, five projects will be chosen to receive up to £1 million each to carry their ideas forward.

The Silver Dreams Fund is the first initiative from the Big Lottery Fund’s Older People Strategy which will see a total of £110 million invested in older people.  The Strategy aims to promote and celebrate the positive side of ageing.

Simon said, “I have written to the Head of Yorkshire and the Humber for the Big Lottery Fund to express my support for the Silver Dreams Fund.  I am very keen to support the launch of the Fund for two reasons.  Firstly, the Silver Dreams Fund recognises that older people make a very valuable contribution to our community and aims to give them the support they deserve.  Secondly, the Fund provides an exciting opportunity for local businesses to apply for funding to put towards the development of a project.  I encourage anyone who is interested to apply.”
